New Guidon

Though there is no specific designation of Senior Recruit,  Sara and her Platoon are now in the final Phase of their Basic Training on the way to becoming Marines.  But... the entire depot will recognize the Phase three recruits as the platoon guidon, the pennant or unit flag that identifies a platoon, is changed from yellow with red numbers to red with yellow numbers another sign that these gals are getting close to being fully trained and are closer to earning the title for life.

Honor Graduate with Phase III Guidon

MEPS...forming... and Platoon pick-up are surely distant memories.

This week Sara literally hits the ground running with Basic Warrior Training (BWT) and Firing the Table 2 Course.
Though after graduation, Sara heads to "MCT" or 28 days of Marine Combat training before she heads to her MOS school, this week, “BWT” lays the foundation for how to operate in a field environment.  Sara has been introduced to basic field skills such as: how to prepare personal equipment for combat; the definitions of camouflage, cover, and concealment and how to use all three; basic movement techniques; how to negotiate obstacles like walls (hmmmm Parcour central... she is going to eat this up), and barbed wire; how to set up field shelters, and practical application of conducting field sanitation.

By the end of the week, she will also be proficient in the Fire Team level hand and arm signals for silent communications during patrols.

So much to learn.
