This week, Sara has been getting to know her service rifle like never before. She has moved from her squad bay in the 4th Battalion building to the Range. Her days have begun before sunrise (like all days) after a rousing reveille (I believe, though in the boot camp videos I have yet to hear a reveille... it's usually a DI getting them rolling.) She and her platoon present themselves for accountability, take care of personal hygiene and morning clean up, put in some delightful PT, consume a quick and 'delicious' breakfast, and then it's off to the range. After noon chow, weather permitting, it's been more time on the range ... always leading up to the pre-qual day... this Thursday, and then the most important Qual Day on this Friday. Any other drilling or training brings each "firing week" day to the evening meal somewhere around 1700 to 1800. Sara then should have time to get squared away (about an hour to get her uniforms in line, write letters, etc. Her lights out will typically be around 2000 to 2200.
This week the primary objective is, again, "Qualifying" on Friday
Wednesday, in addition to her Rifle work on the Range, Sara worked her way through (helping and being helped) Obstacle course III or O-3.
Sara said in her most recent letter that she had a 21cm group in her simulator session and that her CMI was 'stoked'... said he had just shot a 15 cm group so the competition is on. I bet any "hollywood" Marine would be put to the test for sure... lol! Rock on Parris Island! ...
