This Just In... PFT First Class!

Sara's motivation and dedication since February has done exactly what she hoped that it would.  When the time would come for her PFT or physical fitness test, Sara knew that Marines must maintain higher fitness standards than any other military branch... this fact...in addition to getting the MOS she wanted in writing... was a BIG reason she chose the Marines.

I am so proud of her.  Her goal was to be able to score a First Class PFT score of 225...not an easy thing to do.  She did well (big smiley face) on her PFT and her score (though I am pretty certain she would say she should have done better (another big smiley face)) was actually 251... well past the mark she was shooting for.  You're doing it Sara.  You are achieving your goals.  Your hard work is paying off.

Now that is awesome.  And after her PFT she drilled for two hours so by the time she wrote a few words she was exhausted both mentally and physically.

This "rite of passage"... this transformation... is becoming more and more evident in the words she writes.  This is already a different young lady than we left at MEPS. (with her then new travel companion Rct Waltermire).  This is her take on handling her frustration from a letter written on 20100711.  "...we were sitting listening to [a DI]  talk... and I just felt so broke off and exhausted...then all of a sudden I felt amazing...not so much physically...but mentally after I talked to God for a little bit and thanked Him for the opportunity to be here and to be who and what I want to be... my day completely turned around after that... I've got God on my side :D  Absolutely incredible!"  And that is the truth.  OohRah!

Sara, you signed off your last letter to Mom with this verse which I am throwing right back at you and the Recruits in Plt 4024  (Rcts Del Toro, Thornton, Connors, Waltermire, Frierson, Spears, etc.) as well as those in 4025 whose names I do not know.... and also Marine Craddock in Hawaii and Marine Cox in San Diego and Marine Goss in Alaska.

May the Lord send His angels to guard and protect each and every one of you...physically...mentally...and spiritually and may he continue to bless  you richly.
