Close Combat Training Today

Recruits practice escape and counter manuvers

Checking out these pics, I am thinking that Sara should be able to hold her own in just about any situation now.  She is learning lifelong self-preservation skills.  (The female recruits in class, the male recruits in practical application) (those pics flash as fast as chow time... enough already!)

Marine Corp Martial Arts:  "In a close combat situation, the enemy will attempt to strike you, generally with either punches or kicks. When this opponent uses a strike, you must first avoid the strike. This is accomplished with movement and blocks. The movements and blocks must be executed quickly. Your second objective is to put yourself in an offensive position. This will allow you to use strikes to attack your opponent."

Of course, as seen above a choke and hold put an opponent in a vulnerable position. When a choke is applied correctly, the opponent can lose consciousness in seconds and thus remove his/her ability to attack.

Finishing the week, having been out of town, I am looking forward to getting home and checking the mail.
