Yep... this is also big time dental week. Those recruits waiting on their slot to sit in the chair for wisdom teeth work will surely have their turns and for the rest who have been through the lovely experience will be checked and perhaps furthur work done.
Back to Team week, the training matrix schedules says that this week is a time for Plt 4024 to demonstrate that they understand how to do what is right, and that they are taking ownership of the USMC core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
This is actually the first opportunity for the recruits to show the DI's how close they are to becoming Marines. This week, the team building efforts of Plt 4024 are being examined. Sara will be working in an environment of minimal supervision. These ladies, at this point in their training are expected to demonstrate a higher degree of maturity and are able to assume more responsibility. Some groups are even working in other areas of the Island not under the direct supervision of their drill instructors... testing abilities and proving themselves.
By this time, it is expected that the platoon has developed a high degree of discipline and teamwork and are functioning as a well drilled unit.
We know we live in a world that is morally ethically bankrupt in many ways. It is therefore of primary importance that that these future Marines be continually reminded that the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment make up the bedrock of a Marine's character as they practice integrity, discipline, teamwork, duty and esprit de corps while moving and working around the Depot.
Such values cut across personal, familial, religious and cultural boundaries. As each recruit is able to program or reprogram the mind to focus on and follow hard after such a lifestyle or mindset, future choices and decisions will be the most correct in any circumstance.... simple, or complex... building up... or taking apart.
This is a big week. I look forward to hearing about it.
