Well first things first.... Sara sent a bucket of letters (5) that were postmarked on Monday of this week... who knows if she sent them out that way or they just ended up getting off PI at one time.... things are what they are... but it was a hoot to get so much news at once.
So... Sara says that it is her to the far right on the pic... she now weighs in the 120's down from the 140's she has really been "slenderized" ... a BIG thank you to proud Marine parents and photographers Sharilyn and Stan Craddock (http://www.scraddockphotography.com/) .
DI yelling instructions
Noticing Sara's hair color in the July 4th sun, the photographer said, "Being a red-head myself ...I'm certain that if she has the spunk to enlist in the Corps, she has what it takes to keep her position as squad leader as well. In the photo following the DI yelling, it looks as though she is turned around showing the rest of the platoon how to do it correctly. I think the bright red hair bun gives her away. You'll also notice that in the photo were the DI is yelling ...Sara is standing solid while others, hummmm are not!"
Nice to be able to share this... knowing that this is Sara... touches my heart and gives me "goosebumps" at the same time...! Man... this calls for some music....!
NOW SOME BIG NEWS!!!!
When Jonathan opened one of the letters that came today, out fell a King Size Hershey's Milk Chocolate Candy Bar wrapper.... We all looked at each other eyebrows raised!
"...Firing week went very well : ) . I ate a huge King Sized Hershey Bar on Friday when I scored 229 on the range...which was the highest score in November Company by 4 points : D I asked for a phone call home in exchange for the candy but it didn't work out. I tried to share it too but SDI stood behind me and made me eat it all, HAH! But yeah, me and "Ernie" tore it up out there friday : ) ... I included my scrumptuous candy bar wrapper as proof that [this recruit] got chocolate at BOOT CAMP! Ha! Victory! :b "
Sara drew all the targets from different distances on the back of one of the pages where she hit the targets and thought she scored 231 and that her score was a few points low but "the scorekeeper got 229 and I'm good with it" she wrote. Her best scores were 200 yards rapid fire sitting and 500 yards slow fire prone.
Thanks Sara for making us prouder-maximifficus ... and thanks for the letters. We congregate from around the globe and salute you.... :)
Love you bunches.
